My first attempt at installing Linux (Red hat 8) hasn't gone very well. My system, Athlon 2000+ (1.7GHz), 512 Mb Ram, 64 mb Nvidia GeForce4 MX440 video card, 2 Hard drives each 80 G (Seagate). Booting from the installation CD worked, I initially selected 'Graphical' which merely took me to a blue screen and froze. Subsequent attempts I selected 'Linux Text' ....noprobe.....lowres.... Ok I got lost with which option I selected to eventually show me a CD Media tester. The result of the CD media tester failed (was the installation CD) placed another CD in machine that failed the test. Couldn't get any further. I'm now thinking of copying the 3 installation CD's to my C:\ drive and then installing from the hard-drive to my D:\ drive. What are my options now.......Am I missing something really simple here.
