On RedHat 6.2 on IBM Netfinity 5100 with 20/40GB DDS4 DAT device we frequently have processes accessing the DAT ending in a state of "uninterruptible sleep". The only solution up to now was a server reboot. My questions: 1. How can we avoid a status of "uninterruptible sleep"? On our system, it occurs mainly due to not enough space on the cartridge, but also when reading with tar. 2. How can I kill such a process without rebooting? Thank you, Josef Fuerst
