I have problems accessing some samba shares from win95.

The linux box is a pentium 133 with RH 6.01 Samba 2.05a-12

I can display all the shares using Network neighborhood but on 2,
I get a message 'The Network name cannot be found'

Other shares can be accessed OK

I have tried several different combinations of permissions but still
cannot get access

The appropriate parts of smb.conf and Permissions follow

This share I can access OK

That's usually cos there's no netbios name.

If a WINS server isn't running, you will ahve to have an LMHOSTS file
 - at least on NT.

Are the permissions as listed above correct? If they are, the missing
execution bit 'x' could be a large factor in your problem. To be able
to cd into a directory is for that directory to be executable.
Basically if you wish to be able to use directories for other than a
"list" of files, don't disable the execution bit.

There is a Netbios name specified. Anyway, why would a netbios name
affect the situatuation when some shares work and others don't

I also have a lmhosts file, but the same question applies - why some
work & others don't
