Believe me, after rebuilding 200+ pm >11's, you wouldn't want a floppy in your term server. how about a CD? A Zip drive? A hard drive? or perhaps a USB of SCSI port for such an input device? Someone else had mentioned a dual flash? I like this idea the best, this way if the unit does fail during upgrade it could boot off the other flash. Similar to the Mac setup: Macs look for a floppy by default, if they cannot find one they look to the CD or other input device. The Hard Drive is always last. I keep a dual OS setup on all our servers. This way if one drive fails I can recover the system quickly and then just restore files from backup. So many people seem to have missed my point, which was not to be naive with a callous statement "it should not fail." What I am trying to say is that I would like to see some redundancy in a form that does not require netbooting as you tend to have to be on site, unless you happen to leave a tftp server and permanent console connected to each unit in every POP. Netboot should be a last resort. There is no real "in-between" for failure recovery. I must admit I have enjoyed reading the typically snide remarks from the same arrogant know-it-alls. Sometimes it seems like if you make a suggestion on this list you are chastised for it. I have never complained about the PM3 or its OS and have had tremendous success with it. But the one time a complaint comes out of my mouth the abuse begins. I have seen it happen to so many others on this list and it mainly emanates from the grand poo-ba of rude remarks,(who's the poo-ba? this goes without saying) These negative comments are quite counter productive. jer "On a day no different than the one now dawning, Leonardo drew the first strokes of the Mona Lisa, Shakespeare wrote the first words of Hamlet, and Beethoven began work on his Ninth Symphony."
