A friend of mine is looing for a career change. He's thinking
computer training at DeVry. They claim he can get a tech degree
in 20 months, and he'll get immediate job placement. He's
concerned, of course, that this is a slick sales job.
Does anyone know any DeVry grads? What's the take on the place?

I graduated from Devry in 1976 with a technical certificate. Back then they also boasted of immediate job placement and at the time I think 90%+ did find a job of some kind right away. Devry was good about bringing in many companies to interview graduates. I was able to find a job as a technician in telecommunications right after graduation. The bad points of going there for me was the high cost and more importantly I wasn't able to transfer any courses, except one, to a regular 4 year college. So, I had to start over to earn a bachelor's degree. For that reason I wouldn't recommend Devry as I know it. I would suggest that your friend get a list of courses he's going to take and confirm what does and doesn't transfer to a 4 year school.

DeVry is now a 4 Year acredited school, and apon graduation you leave with a 4-year degree. Colin Crisanti crisant@warhol.rtsg.mot.com
