Early next year (probably around March or April) I'm going to get
married (it's about time, according to my mother). I'm looking for
reasonably priced locations for a wedding/reception in the Chicago
area. Since this is the first (and hopefully only) time that I'm
gonna get hitched, I'm not quite sure what the definition of
"reasonably priced" is -- perhaps some nice person on the net can clue
in this ignorant boy. I'm guessing that "reasonably priced" means "no
more than $750". I dunno.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Characteristics that the wedding/reception location MUST have:

1. Reasonable price (e.g., no more than $750 - $1000)
2. Non-religious (e.g., parks, club houses, etc.)
3. Hold at least 100 people or so.
4. Must have enough parking for 100 or so people (50 cars?).
5. In the Chicago or suburban area, preferably Du Page county.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Characteristics that would be NICE for the location:

1. Wedding and reception at same location (more convenient for the
   the guests).
2. Can bring in own caterer.
3. Possibility of an outdoor wedding (indoors if the weather is
   lousy).
4. Wooded area.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Characteristics that we do NOT want in the location:

1. Banquet hall, restaurant, etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you know of some places that fit the above requirements, please
send me email or give me a call. Thanks!

I had my wedding reception at the Katherine Legge Memorial Park in
Hinsdale. Although I only had hors' doeuvres, I was there for another
reception that was a sit down dinner. There is enough room for 100 people
(and parking), the building is very nice in the middle of a park with lots
of trees. I would imagine that you could have the actual wedding there,
also. The first floor is like someone's very beautiful antique living room
with fireplace. We had a piano player providing nice background music for
about 2 hours. The dining area is also right off that room. The area for
dancing, etc. is upstairs, and that is much plainer. In general, tho, we
were very happy with it. I don't remember the cost, but we were able to
(had to, actually) bring in our own caterer. Good luck!
