           SS10 GT-Ethernet Board Info. & New Upgrades

SunFLASH Vol 46 #26 October 1992

 		*  New SPARCstation 10 GT information       *
 	        * - Separate ethernet boards no longer *

At the SPARCstation 10 announcement in May 1992, we indicated that the
SS10GT product would require a separate Ethernet card to be used for
networking. The extra buffering available on this card was required for
the GT to work correctly.

This is no longer necessary!

A fix has been made on SS10 to provide the extra buffering required.
The SS10 GT system part number will automatically ship with this improved
SS10. You don't have to change anything on your system order. Current part
numbers and prices remain unchanged:

SPARCstation 10 Model 30 with GT graphics: S10GT-30-32-P43
SPARCstation 10 Model 41 with GT graphics: S10GT-41-32-P43

This also implies that upgrades from SS2GT to SS10GT will also now ship
with this improved SS10. There are two "box swap" upgrades from SPARCstation
2 GT to SPARCstation 10 GT. Customers can upgrade to either the SPARCstation
10 Model 30 or the Model 41. The two upgrade paths offered are:

Upgrade from SS2 GT to Model 41: UG-S2GT-S10-41
Upgrade from SS2 GT to Model 30: UG-S2GT-S10-30

The new box swap upgrades simplify the process for the customer. Customers can
simply order one of the new GT-specific upgrade part numbers without also
ordering a separate Ethernet card.
