Things like the pathnames of the aliases files changing can be dealt
with in the localise.sh file.  In the localise.sh file I use locally I
also modify Install.sh to include a -d <dir> option to allow the .cf
file to be installed in /etc or elsewhere.  My localise.sh follows:

 # add option to Install.sh

 ed ../Install.sh <<'EOF'
 /^$/i
 # if -d dir is specified, the cf file is rcp'd to <dir>/sendmail.cf

 /verbose/a
 dir=/usr/lib
 .

 /usr.lib.sendmail.cf/s/.usr.lib/$dir/

 #  change /usr/lib paths to /etc in base.m4
