Seemingly you don't have a clue. The entire "rest of" usenet???? There's 24,000 newsgroups on my server. I only post to our provincial newgroups and the occasional post that goes to soc.men or somewhere else that others have cross-posted. And in terms of "volume, the sum total of my posts does not equal all the obnoxious postings of all the other posters in the newsgroups I post to. FYI there is no limit to how many posts a person is permitted to post. And if you don't want to read, you don't have to. I look at it this way: the newsgroups are dominated by men's words, I'm just evening things out a bit. AND my most obnoxious posts pale in comparison to those made by men. I've given you a few clues. What part don't you understand? > Yes, Barb, in terms of sheer buffonery, you have decimated your foes. You're free to your opinion, which is not shared by all. And others in here should not dictate what others can or cannot read. > BTW congrats in finding another ISP so fast. It must be very important > to you. Yes, Internet access is very important to me. Perhaps I generate an income through Internet access, which others obviously could care less. I use it for things other than making posts. One thing I use it for is research purposes; another is to communicate with a friend who is deaf and that is how we make arrangements for time and place to meet. But, really, it isn't any of your business WHY the Internet is important to me. > Tell us, do you get outside at all? See above. Actually I've met quite a few people on the 'net who are now friends in 'real life' as opposed to in here -- who I "get outside" with. I met one of them in the newgroups. And as a result of my postings in ns.general, a relative who I didn't know contacted me. In fact, quite a few people have contacted me to see if we are relatives. Haven't you met anyone on-line who you've become friends with in 'real life', as opposed to in here, that you "get outside" with? Some people meet in here and get married. In fact, a member of the CCN Board met his intimate partner on the 'net. NOTE: Whether or not I get outside or were I go and what I do is really none of your business. The behavior of posters is bizarre. All you can see is words on a screen. You don't know where I am or what I am doing while I put those words on the screen. Should I assume that you were home alone when you made this post? Perhaps you were in bed with your lover at her or his place; perhaps you were at work outside of your home; perhaps you were at a friend's house. Granted you were likely inside, not outside, when you made the post; but in the examples above you would have had to go outside. The behavior of posters, the assumptions made from words on a screen is bizarre. > <snip> > > The termination they said was due to not being > > able to deal with so many complaints because CCN is essentially > > a volunteer run organization. > Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Really? It was up to CCN to deal with the problem of people filling their mailboxes with a barrage of bogus complaints, some of which posters sent to me. AND the way to deal with it was NOT to terminate my account. I am not responsible for people sending a barrage of bogus complaints to CCN. > If that many people complained about you, there must be something to it > because I don't think such a > "conspiracy" would arise if the complainers weren't motivated. See above!! NOTE: I've not seen those complaints. Wonder how many there really was and how many had handles/hotmail addresses??? Hmm... > > If CCN is going to say that they terminated my account because > > of offensive posts, then what about other CCN users who make > > offensive posts and send offensive email??? Huh?? > > > See my point above, Babs: the sheer _volume_ of complaints was the > problem BUT that's not my problem; that's not reason to terminate my account. Because others in here don't like my posts and want to silence me, by sending a barrage of complaints to CCN that is not reason for CCN to terminate my account. The preference of others is not reason in and of itself to terminate my account. CCN said that I did not break the rules of the User Agreement. CCN could have dealt with it in other ways. Other ISPs do not terminate accounts simply because of the "sheer volume of complaints". In fact, some ISPs ignore complaints. AOL sent me a form email letter IRT my complaint about PangK who was harassing me on a daily basis via email for months -- in 1996 and then again in 1997. He harasses a lot of women this way who complain and never get a response from his ISP. Again, according to CCN most of the barrage of complaints they were receiving were NOT legitmate complaints, but that some had to be looked at, out of their concern for defamation, i.e. that CCN might be liable. BUT that is not the opinion of Cable Atlantic, i.e. that the ISP is liable for what their users post in newsgroups. And since Jenkins called on the public to send MANY complaints to CCN, the ones looked at, other than Jenkins complaint about my post that a reader might have thought I was referring to him when I wasn't, were obviously NOT legitmate complaints, since CCN did not notify me of them. The only other complaint that was mentioned was Michelle Doherty's complaint and CCN said that they did not think it was of concern to CCN. BUT Michelle Doherty posted blatant libel about me and my family and so has John Jenkins Sr. I doubt the campaign to get my account terminated would have been successful with another ISP. And the campaign was not successful is silencing me for even one day. All that effort to try and silence me and it didn't work. BTW when do some of you fellas find time to work? > <snip> I see you snipped my comments about the disgusting posts made by men, CCN users. It is OK for men to make such posts in here, including CCN users. There is a double standard in here, just as there is out there. > > Does CCN get complaints about those men?? Not likely. If so, > > not many. > ^^^^^^^^ > Exactly! Eureka! You've seen the light! Fella, I saw the light as soon as I started posting in ns.general. A woman does not have an equal voice to men in here. The men were calling each other morons, assholes, ASSWIPES, telling posters they had shit for brains and to get out. And the first time I called a man an asshole, the men started to complain about my language -- the same language the men use. > > Seemingly what we here is a double standard! > > > Sigh. Wake up and smell your postings, babs. Eureka. > > > The same double standard we have out there. After all in here is > > simply a reflection of out there. Bunny rabbits are not making > > the posts. > Would that they were. In BC we have a chap who lets his pet chimp post > for him - and he's far more coherent than you. Fella, you're entitled to your opinion of my posts. Fine. But not all readers share you opinion. You and others should not have the right to dictate what other readers can or cannot read. What part don't you understand? > > You are right that we do not have free speech in Canada. I have the > > Charter in my CCN public files which I presently do not have access > > to. Protection of our freedom of expression only applies to censorship > > by the government. > We have free speech, but that doesn't force anyone to provide you with > a megaphone. You are ignorant. We do not have free speech. Check out the Charter on the 'net. We are only protected against censorship by the government. It's in my CCN public files, which I was told I can access via ftp or fpt whatever it is, but I don't know how to ... perhaps you can, also ?? And CCN is a "Freenet". It's Mission Statement is to provide access to the Internet to all members of the community, that includes those who otherwise would not have access to the Internet -- those who cannot afford to pay do not have to pay. And the cost is only $20 a year, which is less than I now pay a month. > Let's just pretend that you were posting from a government ISP. > How long do you think you'd last? I don't know what you mean by posting from a government ISP. Do you mean as an employee, one of Mr.State's minions?? Mr. State has control over what his minions post. Mr. State told his employee, Don Christie, who was harassing, attacking me in here and fooling around with my email address, often at the TAX PAYERS EXPENSE, never to communicate with me again. NOTE: Don Christie, a man, used government equipment/time/ money to harass, attack me and fool around with my email account via a U.S. Military Web Site and he did not lose his access to the Internet. If a woman had done that she would likely have been fired. And posters attack me for reporting him to his employer. Folks you and I are his employer! He was basing the poor while fooling around at work. There's a lot of people out of work, who want to work!! Fella, you are full of shit. Your post is simply another unwarranted attack! I don't engage in the shit the fellas in here do. I don't make posts talking about the smell of male (or female) posters genitals. And I don't send disgusting, repulsive, attacking, harassing, sexually harassing, threatening email to posters, as men in here send to me. And they don't have their accounts terminated, including CCN users who have sent such email! Again, fella you are full of shit!! Barbara A. Amero
