[I've set followups to news.admin.net-abuse.only, but please note my comments below on why this issue is *not* relevent to that group.] >>>>> "Borg" == Borg <vladimip@uniserve.com> writes: >> >So when a message is cancelled because you don't like the title, >> >that is OK? >> >> No Danny. When the title contravenes the Criminal Code of Canada and >> refers to the Head of State in obscene language, then it is perfactly >> in order to cancel such a message. Borg> Then cancel it so that it is not distributed in Canada by Canadian Borg> newsservers to Canadian readers but don't speak for other countries Borg> where it may or may not be against the law. I know it is technically Borg> impossible but, at least, that's the reason it is _not_ "perfectly Borg> in order" as you are saying. The message (and this whole thread) is crossposted to a whole bunch of Canadian (and other) regional hierarchies. Regional hierarchies are allowed more freedom in cancelling posts than is the case for the big-8 and alt.*. Many regional hierarchies have rules against excessive cross-regional posting, for example. This applies *even if the article is crossposted to a big-8 or alt group*; in other words a crossposted article must conform to the rules of *all* hierarchies it is posted in, and is cancellable if it violates any of them. The extent to which these policies are formalised and the way they are implemented varies considerably between regions. However, any discussion of the issue is not really relevent to news.admin.net-abuse.usenet, and should probably be kept to the relevent *.config groups. At the end of the day, policy in regional hierarchies is set solely by the newsadmins operating within that region, and if you have a complain, you should take it up with them. (This applies even if the hierarchy is distributed outside the region which it serves.) In the big-8 and alt.*, illegality is *not* in itself grounds for cancellation. -- Andrew.
