....No, it's not, actually. Most wars have been waged to acquire or defend
territory essential to the warring/defending community's survival.

>>In the twentieth century and before it wars have been faught primarily
for the profit of the ruling elites in inter-imperialist rivalry for the
re-division of the world against the anti-fascist forces and armies of
national liberation and self-defense.
While you are not clear on the concept of 'territory' in your opening,
your later comments make it clear you are arguing pseudo-science with
pseudo-science.

.....They were waged by men like EVERYTHING else was done by men -- every
technological and cultural advance benefitting the species, with few
exceptions, was pioneered by one guy or another.

>> This is Hitlerien logic. It is the argument that the German Nazis
used to legitimate the 'pure Aryan Superman'. You have taken it a step
further and attributed the concept of supremacism to the system of patriarchy we live
within. It is against this view that part of the struggle for the affirmation
of women as human beings is taking place.

.... Now survival doesn't
depend on territorial expansion because men (them again) have found ways
to grow more food, etc.

>> The German 'Professor' Conrad Lorenz presented this theory of 'territory'
in Hitler Germany and it was one of the 'scientific' justifications of
Hitlers 'liebensraum' -living space, in Mein Kampf. The American playwrite
Robert Ardrey dusted it off to legitimate the U.S. war of aggression in S.E.
Asia.
The single crop economies of many small nations have created mass starvation
imposed on the puppet regimes by multi-national monopolies based in the
'industrialized' world.
This is a world-wide phenomena and it is resulting in the deaths of hundred
of thousands of people per year. These enormous tragedies are the roducts of neo-colonialism
and imperialism.

.....And weapons of mass destruction (developed mostly
by men, again)

>>90 % of theoretical and applied science goes towards the development of
the weapons of mass destruction.
Many universities throughout the world are involved deeply.
Even the internet came from this sector of applied science.
The enormous profits derived from the production and sale of weapons
have benefitted only the rich. Science has been 'hired' in their service.

... have had an added effect of deterrence

>> The attempted uni-polar rule of the world by the most militarized and
barbaric 'leadership' on the face of the earth, the leadership of the United States,
through its technological and economic supremacy and proven
willingness to use the weapons of mass destruction up to and including
nuclear weapons and support for fascist regimes around the globe is a factor
for war and certainly not for peace.

.... that has gone a
long way toward making war obsolete.

>>Take another look! The world is more dangerous now than at any other time.
Just where do you think the ever-deepening economic collapse now underway is
going to lead the rich?
Wars are primarily fought in the service of competing multi-national
financial and industrial interests for cheap labour, for markets and for
resources; ie. the operative law, the only law, is the law of maximum
profit at all cost. Open fights are breaking ou among them right now!

....And men (them again) invented the birth control pill, so that women who
wanted to delay or prevent pregnancy so that they can do more interesting
things in the arts and sciences that would benefit the species at large
could do so.

>>The pursuit of maximum profit by the drug cartels was the sole motivating
factor.
Your telling us that they had some humanistic motive?

....And do we get any thanks? Yes, actually. From *most* women.

>>Women everywhere are in the forefront of the struggle for peace
and they are going to defeat these backward views in the near future
and they are going to win on the basis, that among other things,
human beings have the
fundamental right to live in peace.
