Hello everyone. As the new chief of the MI.ORG domain, I'd like to make a suggestion: Let's get rid of the domain! Seriously, I think it might be time that the domain be retired. The folks at ISI do a pretty good job with the MI.US domain. Any time I have sent mail to them, I've always gotten a prompt, courteous reply. MI.US is becoming increasingly populated. High schools around Michigan are getting connected, and they are part of the domain. There was also a lot of talk at the last IETF about reserving the EDU domain for four-year colleges and universities, and placing other schools under <state>.US. How would people feel about a slow transition to remove the MI.ORG domain in favor of the MI.US domain? I'd still be willing to act as a front-end for people who needed some help getting registered. -- Bryan Beecher, U-M Information Technology Division (+1 313 747 4050) Domain: Bryan.Beecher@umich.edu Path: ..!uunet!destroyer!bryan
