I just got off the phone with the most WONDERFUL young lady at Michigan Bell (and most of you know I don't get along much with them), and she tells me that May first, Michigan Bell will be combining the TOTAL of lines you have in your home (billed to ONE bill) and giving us that amount of calls to play with in any fashion we'd like. In other words... if you have 2 lines currently in your home and they are billed to one bill, you can either make 400 calls on each or 800 calls on either one. This will of course help The Plex Project out since we make more than 400 calls each month on more than one line. Since I am currently paying for 8 lines on one bill, we will be able to make upwards of 1600 calls each month on our two UUCP dialouts. I asked the young lady to go recheck her information and the start date (which she did), and it was confirmed. Has anyone else heard anything about this? I'm sure this will be good news to a lot of us here in netland! _____ _____ ' / ) ' ) ) .-/- / -/--' (_/__/_AVE / ARKS -- destroyer!m-net!kite Public Access Altos 68020 UNIX Sys-III (313) 994-6333 vela!plex-1!root Usenet News Plexus P/35 68000 UNIX SysV.2 663-6207 vela!plex-2!root Usenet News Plexus P/60 68020 UNIX SysV.2 663-6873 -- You can mail Dave Parks at these addresses, or phone (313) 663-2247 --

Does this mean it will take effect 5/93 or has been effect since 5/92? bob

I -wish- it took effect last May, I'd be getting a refund. ;) -- destroyer!m-net!kite Public Access Altos 68020 UNIX Sys-III (313) 994-6333 vela!plex-1!root Usenet News Plexus P/35 68000 UNIX SysV.2 663-6207 vela!plex-2!root Usenet News Plexus P/60 68020 UNIX SysV.2 663-6873 -- You can mail Dave Parks at these addresses, or phone (313) 663-2247 --

That's nice.
Of course, that's the way it always used to work before December 1991 when
they changed to the current system (which they couldn't have done back in
the days when the phone company was still regulated). So, in typical
Michigan Bell style, they're going back to the old way of doing things and
making it sound like we're getting something new.
Actually, I'm not sure this is true. I do know that in December they
changed from giving a simple total of all calls made to listing the counts
separately for each line. But I never made more than the minimum number of
calls on each line before then, so I don't know how it would have been
billed. I would appreciate hearing from someone who knows.
