NOTICE of Shutdown:

It is with deepest regret that I must announce the closing of
The Plex Project. There isn't enough support to keep the group
alive. I will of course be finding new homes for the 17 systems
we are currently feeding. In Ann Arbor there is still iunet,
mudos and it looks like Meg (netmeg) is going to join the game.

I hope the closing of this system will help to show that even
though others are still -GIVING- Usenet News feeds, it costs
these people time and money to keep such a service alive.

Since the Universities are tightening their belts as far as
resources go, it will soon be up to the public to do MORE than
we currently are to keep ourselves fed. If you are one of the
local users receiving and posting to Usenet from somewhere other
than a -GEMMIE- account provided by your employer, think about
helping the site you are reading this thread on.

If you are one of the sites being fed via "The Plex Project" you
can get further information on what is going on and where your
NEW home will be by mailing me: root@plex-1.ann-arbor.mi.us.

My THANKS to those of you who gave,
