Hi Fellow Backbone site admin's, Thanks to Bryan Beecher and Wes Craig, S.E. Michigan is entering a new era in bringing Usenet News to the general public. With this new project will come the little problems that will need ironing out and debugging. I would like to suggest that we find a way to get together, via committee, e-mail or special uucp accounts to talk over finding better and faster ways to get Usenet News out to the public and continue to help reduce the resource load at the University. If this project works as well as I think it will we might want to find a way to start spreading this type of project to other Universities (but thats another story). There are already a number of issues I'd like to see addressed by the backbone site admin's currently being fed by destroyer, just to name a few: Feeding one site via two backbones (wasting bandwith), ways to setup backup feeds that need not be turned on (just set up) but could maybe be turned on via some sort of mail command when needed, etc... This posting is intended to find out if other admin's (or the public) have the same interest as I in forming some kind of usergroup or committee to better handle the public's end of this new project. _____ _____ ' / ) ' ) ) .-/- / -/--' (_/__/_AVE / ARKS -- sharkey!m-net!kite Public Access Altos 68020 UNIX Sys-III (313) 994-6333 sharkey!kitenet!kite " " Altos 68000 UNIX Sys-III (313) 663-7255 vela!plex-1!root Usenet News Plexus P/35 68000 UNIX SysV.2 663-6207 -- You can mail Dave Parks at these addresses, or phone (313) 663-2247 --
