I just saw this in the NASA online database, CANOPUS Newsletter:

"An amendment to scrap the space station, offered by Bob Traxler

(and so on) We have a Representative who's pulling this kind of crap?
What district is he in? Gee, I really hope he's in mine....

Chad (not speaking for Ford, the NFL, or anyone but myself)

You needn't worry about him. Traxler, a long-time opponent of the Space
Program, has already announced that he is not running for reelection.

He's the one who got mugged on Capitol Hill awhile back. Coudn't have
happened to a nicer guy. (Well, to a nicer Democrat, at least ;-)

What a second. Not everybody is for the space station by a long shot.
Personally I think the money could be better spent elsewhere, but that
discussion is for other groups.

Applause, applause... thanks, Steve, that's the best thing I could've
heard. :-) I know not everybody agrees with me, but they're perfectly
free to vote for Traxler. ;-)

That's sort of cosmic (comic?) justice... after all, our elected
representatives have been psychically mugging the people for years....
