As the Subjet: line states, I have some good news and some bad news...

First the BAD news, I have had a heck of a time trying to get our 14.4 V.32
bis Supra modem to work well, we have tracked down the problem, it's the
Plexus' UUCP (uucico) it's stuck at 3,64 (window size) and needs to be upped
to at least 7,64 which can't be done without the source (which of course we
do -NOT- have). Currently we are getting about 300-350 cps which is -NOT-
good.

Now the GOOD news, I have gnuucp (taylor uucp) but being that I'm NOT a
programmer I can't get it to compile correctly, once this is done we should
get over 1000+ cps out of the Supra's.

Now for the part you've all been waiting for... Is there anyone out there that
is willing to devote a bit of time to help us out? if so please either mail
me: root@plex-1.ann-arbor.mi.us or call me voice 663-6207.

I'm sure Ivars could figure this out but he left for vacation and I'd really
like to get this done A.S.A.P. Thanks in advance,

Two suggestions...First of all, make sure you have the most recent
version of Taylor. The latest release version is 1.03, and there have
been several patches since then. You can get the patches from
nic.funet.fi:/pub/unix/networking/taylor. Second of all, you probably
want to join the Taylor UUCP mailing list. Patches, problems, fixes,
etc. are discussed there; right now it is averaging about 3-4 messages
a day. The author of Taylor reads it and responds on a regular basis,
so you should be able to get some help with your problems there. To
subscribe to the list, send a message to
taylor-uucp-request@gnu.ai.mit.edu with your name and e-mail address.
Submissions go to taylor-uucp@gnu.ai.mit.edu.

I have Taylor compiled for my SVR4 (Esix) system. There were a few
minor glitches, but it's mostly working fine. I haven't decided yet
whether Taylor is better than SVR4 UUCP, but I think I like it better
simply because I have the source to Taylor and can modify it for my
needs more easily. SVR4 UUCP may be more powerful for the time being,
but your chances of getting a feature request implemented before SVR5
is almost nil.

Ooops, I hit a "R" instead of a "F" ;)

Thanks for the input Marc, I do have version 1.03 but if it's going to be
patches after patches to get it right, I think I'd like to look into other
options first (or together). I guess I'll join the mailing list and see
what happens. I am still interested in finding someone who can get this to
compile and at least run without dumping core.
