Cannot set the defaultcharset on dhtmled 5

Dhtmled 5 set its defaultcharset to windows-1252 by default.  The problem is
that this charset is only supported by ie5.  I want to set it to a different
value like iso-8859-1, but it won't accept it.  No exception, no nothing.
It just remain at windows-1252.   The browser doesn't have this problem.
Does anyone knows a work around for this?
