VBScript find command

Any ideas why a VBScript Recordset.Find method consistently yeilds the
following error:

    ADODB.Recordset error '800a0bb9'
The application is using arguments that are of the wrong type, are out
of acceptable
range, or are in conflict with one another.

I'm sure that the data type for the field and variable are compatible --
I've used the same criteria within the WHERE clause of an SQL SELECT
statement without problems.

I've tried these variations (after issuing oRecordset.Movefirst):
    oRecordset.Find "Name = " & myVar, 0 , adSearchForward
    oRecordset.Find "Name = ' " & myVar & " ' ", 0 , adSearchForward
    oRecordset.Find "Name = ' " & CStr(myVar) & " ' ", 0 , adSearchForward
    oRecordset.Find "Name = " & myVar, 0 , 0

I have not been able to get the Find method to work even once, even when I
hard-code the variable ("Name = 'John' "). Always the same error. Can anyone
help?

Thanks in advance,
Kelly
