Cost-per-foot range for residential add-ons?

What's the general range of dollars per square foot for a residential
addition?

Obviously nobody can give me a solid number without more detailed
information, but I'm just trying to get a quick reality check here.
(We're looking at some small houses on large lots.) For
example, I would guess $30/ft2 as a rough ballpark number for my area,
but maybe that's far too low?

The specifics, if anybody cares, are:
Dallas area
pier and beam
2 or 3 stories (if this can be done with pier and beam?)
fairly simply layout, but including 1 or 2 bathrooms and its own AC zone
1500-3000 ft2
very durable construction, but without lots of glitzy luxury features.
Super-ultra energy saving is not a top priority.

Thanks much for any pointers or reality checks!
