Orchard Supply Hardware had a trio of external paint colors that were ideal for my requirements for one room. The paint guy there said that I shouldn't use external paint internally, as it would not dry properly, and not be cleanable. He said he could mix internal to the same formula, and get the same colors. Well, it didn't work, and the colors are all off. I still want these exact colors, so my question is: Can I just use the OSH external paint internally (actually Sears Weatherbeater), or should I go to Kelly Moore or Sherwin Williams or such, and get them to match the chips with internal paint using their color matching machine. Thanks.

I have found that the color matching machines are right on the money, so if you haven't already bought the paint, go for the right stuff. Rick Marinelli rickandlisadeletethistoemail@erols.com

I have used excternal house paint inside succeesfully. It washes just fine, too. I've painted the bathroom 2 or 3 times with the same light blue that was used on the outside of the house. Our painter overestimated the amount needed, & I've been determined to use it up! I have used the dark blue on a chest of drawers, a tv stand, and some cornice molding. There are two problems using exterior paint inside. First, the exterior paint contains a mildewcide that isn't intended for interior use. Second, the exterior paint is formulated to be more flexible than interior paint since it has to stand up to extreme changes in temperature and humidity. This flexibility makes it much less suitable for interior use since it won't stand up as well to daily wear-and-tear or cleanings. Bruce A.&B.
