ARggh! The hose is driving me NUTZ! Where do all these pinprick holes come from?! And the once nice flexible material is KINKING! Yank on the hose and watch the water disappear. Sheesh. Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent hose that won't cost my right arm and still last more than a couple of years?

I got hoses with lifetime guarantees from OSH and HD. I think the brand is Gilmour. I've had them for maybe 8 years now and they're working fine. They're expensive, but probably worth it over time. They're extremely kink-resistant, but will kink if abused sufficiently. So far two have survived 4 years on the south side of my current house in Scottsdale. Pretty amazing - I buy big 45 gallon Rubbermaid plastic containers for my pool junk, and they literally crumble after a year or two. Amazing how destructive the sun is here in AZ. I understand if the Gilmour hose ever fails, you just chop off the fitting and send it back to them, and they'll send you a new hose. --Neil <bearclaw@cruller.invalid> wrote in message news:bearclaw-860359.16434106082001@corp.supernews.com... > ARggh! Just did buy a "heavy duty" 50' commercial hose from the local grange supply $33 (ouch). So I connect it, stick a handle through the coil, unroll it and proceed to water some trees. You guessed it, first tree no water and a kink back 20 ft. Also have good heavy duty hoses that I bought over 20 years ago still in service. Have cheap throw-aways that have been in service for 5-6 years and just bought another 60' for $9.84. Every one, light or heavy kinked from day one. Harry K

I did it and they replaced. Have also been satisfied with my Gilmour hoses. After years of cheapos, I got the message: It's worth it to pay a little more and have the hoses last, and not kink. (We have sun here in So. Calif. as well!) > ><bearclaw@cruller.invalid> wrote in message >news:bearclaw-860359.16434106082001@corp.supernews.com... >> ARggh! The hose is driving me NUTZ! The comments are right on target about getting contractor or commercial grade hoses.. Also, a hose reel will reduce kinking. If you don't use a hose reel, try coiling the hose, the section nearest the faucet first, on the ground in a compact "figure 8" instead of the usual simple circular coil. This will allow the hose to feed out without a kink. My father showed me this trick he discovered on his own, and it works a treat. <bearclaw@cruller.invalid> wrote in message news:bearclaw-860359.16434106082001@corp.supernews.com... > ARggh! I like the red Farmers Rubber hoses sold by A.M Leonard catalog. Item #AP9690,AP9695 & AP9691. Last a long time, don't kink easily. www.amleo.com Also, the black rubber Craftsman hoses, and Gilmour. I try to leave them stretched out where possible.
