Here in Sonoma County the roads, generally, are very narrow and have NO shoulder section. This forces cyclists who use these narrow roads to share the traffic lanes with automobiles. In general this works out, although I think many cyclists have a screw loose for even attempting to ride some of the high traffic narrow roads in this area. However, often I encounter a pack of cyclists riding two, three or even four abreast effectively blocking the road in that direction forcing automobiles to pass in the oncoming traffic lane. Yes, they have a right to use the roads, but no, they don't have a right to obstruct the flow of automobile traffic. If the road is so narrow and dangerous that the only way cyclists can ride safely is to block the road, then they should not be there in the first place. -- Christopher A.
