My point was that if you try to debit someone's credit card out of the
blue when they're not expecting it you can hardly be surprised if the
debit is refused. In this case I suspect Messrs Hertz and Co would
have had their pound of flesh a jolly sight faster if they'd raised an
invoice on 28-day terms with evidence of the costs attached.

	ObAdvice: if they make you sign a blank chit, do business with
someone else - even if that means the railway.
