My friend sold something on eBay. More than a month later, PayPal contacts him and tells him that the credit card that the purchaser used was stolen, and that he needs to pay back PayPal. Huh? Isn't PayPal's job to insulate the seller from this kind of thing, and the reason they charge the fees they do? So they say that if he doesn't pay, they will be taking the money out of his checking account. He closes that account quickly, and tells them to get lost, and they do. Never ever, link your regular checking account to PayPal. Get a no-minimum balance checking account somewhere exclusively for use as a PayPal seller, and don't keep much money in it.
