   I want to get a will, power of attorney, and living will.
 
   The will is straightforward, although $100 seems a lot to say
"my brother is my executor and he gets everything."
 
    I have wondered about establishing a trust for which I am
administrator. I could then draw money as I need it, but the trust
would pass to my brother upon my death without an expensive probate.
 
   I believe that trusts are complex and expensive, and thus may not
be justified except for very large estates.
 
   Power-of-attorney is a bit more complex (odd, since it only costs
$75). I want my appointee to take over ONLY if I am unable to make
decisions myself, AND I want to be sure that no heroic measures are
taken to prolong my life.
 
   The lawyer said I need a "living will" (another $100) to formalize
my wishes for health care if I cannot make decisions. He also said
that living wills aren't legally binding in Ontario.
 
   Any light which can be shed on trusts / Power of Attorney / Living
Will / avoiding unwanted medical care is much appreciated.
