There is no real 'out' door or 'in' door at best buy in matteson. Like most best buy's I've visited, there are just doors (I don't even recall them being marked). Now once inside the station where the 'inventory control person' sleeps divides the traffic such that one side is mostly in and one side is mostly out. And if I recall the layout in matteson correctly, the return desk is on the mostly 'out' side of the door guard station and one would naturally take that shortest path since going in the other side meant going the long way around the registers. Basically, it's you-had-been-there-and-done-this-before sort of situation the OP was in.
