At BBY, it is a stand by the out door where a security guard
(person wearing yellow shirt) sits or stands and checks goods
and packages going in and out of the store.  The mere fact that
this yellow shirt is by the door and making eye contact results
in a major reduction in retail theft.

People shoplift, speed, and sneak into movies all the time.
That doesn't make it either right or proper.  When you do
something wrong or goofy, you shouldn't be surprised when
something even more wrong or more goofy happens in return.
