Quite correct. I believe Joe wrote the response, however thses bottom posts are very confusing. However, the primary problem with socialism, leftism, by whatever the popular name of the moment is, that it allows no one with intelligence and ambition to rise above a level dictated by some government manager. Therefor, good managers, people with common sense, intelligent people simply opt out. Our public schools are a perfect example. at least three parts of the teaching positions are held by leftists. These people are protected by a leftist union, or at university level, by their professorship. The US railroad industry was once a very good example here. Highly regulated from 1871 until 1979 or so, a great industry was regulated by the government into bankruptcy. With the repeal of the Interstate Commerce Act by the Staggers Act, railroads again became true private concerns, and have now fully recovered their economic strength. Then, more recently, we had the leftist government of the State of California, which succeeded in driving the sixth largest economy in the world into bankruptcy. Then consider China, once a communist country, who's leaders were smart enough to convert it into a capitalist dictatorship, before it followed the USSR into total failure. In fact there has never been a successful leftist state, in the entire history of leftist theory. If a theory cannot produce a practical example of success, it must be considered flawed. Or, as they say, doing the same thing, over and over, to achieve the same failure, is insanity, or something to that effect. Goes to show there are more stupid or lazy people in our world awaiting government handouts than smart, ambitious ones.
