Frank "Gib" Gibson of New Hanover High School in Wilmington, North
Carolina won the 1994 "Networks: Where Have You Been All My Life?" essay
contest sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center
for Education Statistics, the National Science Foundation, and the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The Cornell Theory Center
has made the essay available on the World Wide Web. The URL is:

Gib was a participant in the 1993 SuperQuest supercomputing program. It
was Gib's brainstorm to involve Abagail Saxon, an English/Communications
teacher, in the project because of the need for scientists to effectively
communicate their work and results in meaningful ways. The result, as
demonstrated in this award winning essay, has been a satisfying
interconnectedness between science and the humanities.
