However, I was about 13 years old at the time and suspect the cat was enjoying the spectacle of me trying to climb up the tree. The cat climbed down a few minutes after I collapsed on the lawn. In Ben Lomond, we have an arrangement with the local squirrels to train the cats in the art of tree climbing. The squirrels tempt the cats to chase them up the tree. Of course, the squirrels are much faster and more agile than the cat. They apparently find it amusing to watch the cat clumsily back down the tree after the requite hours of whining. For a nominal charge, I can supply some of the local training squirrels to any fire department that is plagued with excessive cat-in-tree calls. Within one or two generations of cat, they should all be properly trained, and the cat-in-tree calls dramatically reduced. -- Jeff Liebermann 150 Felker St #D Santa Cruz CA 95060 (831)421-6491 pgr (831)426-1240 fax (831)336-2558 home http://www.LearnByDestroying.com WB6SSY jeffl@comix.santa-cruz.ca.us jeffl@cruzio.com
