Hello:
Our area is new to true paramedicine, we are a city that has
paramedics on the road due to the Ontario Prehospital Advanced Life
Support study (OPALS). It's great to finally have paramedics in town,
but with this comes many questions. I would like to know how you
incorporated paramedics into your Disaster/Emergency plan. In
particular, on scene actions, roles, load and go, treat on scene or
enroute. Our crew configuration is one BLS and one ALS provider per
vehicle with BLS only vehicles as well. Another question I have is
supplies, what do you carry on your support unit, do you stock ALS
supplies, do you rotate them around so that you use them up by the
expiry dates.
I would appreciate any comments, please send them by e-mail as well as
posting it, I'm sure to see it that way.:-) I would also be interested
in reading your plan.
Thankyou
Jerry Gault

By us in Holland there a more types of Disaster/Emergency plan. General: 1 06-11 (911) send a ambulance to a call. They arrive and there is a disaster. The first ambulance must (Dutch National Ambulance Protocol) look for: - riscs for own safety - how big is the disaster - how many patients, what kind of patients - exact place of the disaster - looking for the right way for arriving emergency vehicles Than the nurse of the first ambulance: - coordinates the medical help - try to look futher at the acciendient - have two ways communications with walky talkie to 06-11 (911) - is not helping with medical help (except short ALS) - take care that the patients are going to patientsplaces (10 patients by each other) - alle nurses of incoming ambulances and medical help is supervised by him/her Than the driver of the first ambulance: - stays in the ambulance - takes care that now patients are coming in the first ambulance - helps with coordinating - is giving information from his nurse to 06-11 (911) - is responsable for the radio communication - takes care that the first ambulance is recognised als first/commando ambulance (we have a green light at the back what he is turning on) Other ambulances: - are going to the place where 06-11 (911) wants to have them are looking out for danger (explosives etc.) - are following the instructions of the first ambulance One of the other emergency plan of Schiphol (but I can not give them for security reasons) > particular, on scene actions, roles, load and go, treat on scene or > enroute. Our crew configuration is one BLS and one ALS provider per > vehicle with BLS only vehicles as well. Another question I have is > supplies, what do you carry on your support unit, do you stock ALS > supplies We have a special support car. This car is supplied with ALS This car is not rotated around but stays in the district. All our ambulances are supporting ALS and have nurses (by law) do you rotate them around so that you use them up by the > expiry dates. > > I would appreciate any comments, please send them by e-mail as well as > posting it, I'm sure to see it that way.:-) I would also be interested > in reading your plan. > > Thankyou > > Jerry Gault > jgault@worldlink.ca Hoped that you have enough information, Hans de Vries (RN) (was in action by disasters: planecrash Bylmer, planecrash Farao, planecrash Eindhoven) From "Broeder de Vries"Ambulance (911 district: Hilversum, Veenendaal, Amerongen, Schiphol + international ambulanceplanes) > E-mail:hansdv@iaehv.nl
