I am currently collecting information concerning the useage of Pulse
Oxymeters in pre-hospital settings.

	I would like to know;

		- if your service is using or planing to use this equipment,

		- what protocols and training dictate it's use,

		- type model, and features you use, plan to use, want to use,

		- your personal feelings concerning this equipment.

I thank you is advance for responding, all those who want to be on my
e-mail mailing list will receive further information about this
programme that I am looking at.

Thank you.

We are currently undertaking a study with our regional trauma center looking at pulse oxymetry
readings and injury severity scores to see if there is a correlation. If you wish more information, I'd be
willing to fill you in on more details. I may have some info your looking for.

- what protocols and training dictate it's use,

Pretty much whenever the medic would like to check it, we have no specific
protocol set forth for its use.

- type model, and features you use, plan to use, want to use,

We use the Nonin fingertip pulse ox's, and the Nonin hand-held pulse ox
(don't know the model #) We do not use any features ie. low P Ox alarm, or
low pulse alarm.

- your personal feelings concerning this equipment.

I feel that it is a usefull tool to use in addition to your clinical findings
and assessment, but I do not believe that it should be used simply for the
matter of making the decision of whether or not to administer oxygen to a
patient.
