Our fire department is just starting an auto extrication team and I need some advise on safety goggles. I am looking for suggestions as to what is the best type and what your experiences have been with safety goggles. One main concern, outside of the shadder proofness of the goggles is the anti-fog ability of them. Is there something that can be put on the lens that will keep them from foging up? All suggestions are greatly appreciated. I would also be very interested in any other safety tips you may have. Thanks

Greg: I've had luck in using protective glasses that are ANSI rated and vented on the sides as opposed to actual goggles that form fit over my face. This works great for protecting against projectiles and dirt or metal shavings. When I work directly around the battery or other pressurized fluids, I slip a pair of goggles on for splash protection, then go back to glasses. It sounds like a hassle, but it takes care of the fogging.

Hi. You might want to check with your local scuba diving outfitters. I've used an anti-fogging compund that one of our local dive shops sells with great success. You simply rub the waxy stuff all over the lens of your goggles (or divers face mask) and then wash it off. The compund stops the fogging just great! Oh, by the way. This stuff is really cheap! gilmore@mi.net (Gregory Gilmore) wrote: > Our fire department is just starting an auto extrication team and I >need some advise on safety goggles.
