Hi, I have two preschoolers and the medical community has really been pushing
the egg and salmonella issue (because babies and young kids can die from
salmonella poisoning). You have to remember that an egg is not solid and
impermeable. The shell is quite porous and bacteria can migrate freely into
the interior of the egg. And eggs get quite mucky with fecal matter, so there
are lots of bacteria making the journey!
