I just got an offer in the mail to upgrade the SuperStor that came with my DR DOS 6.0 to the SuperStor Pro for $40. I didn't like the original SuperStor mainly because it took up too much base 640k RAM, about 40k if I remember correctly. This wasn't a big deal for my serious applications, but with games as big as they are, I often couldn't load all the options since I didn't have enough base RAM left. The flier I got says that this program will use 52k RAM without UMB/XMS and 10k with UMB/XMS. Can someone explain to me what this means, and whether or not I can expect this program to only suck up 10k on my system? It's a 386/40 w/4 megs RAM and I always load the emm386 upon boot up. Another thing I really disliked about the old SuperStor was that decompressing the compressed partition meant losing the whole thing. The ad for the Pro version states that "Deinstall can return your disk to its original pre-SuperStor condition." Does this mean that it will know to bring compressed files over into the uncompressed partition before it wipes it out? Any other comments pertaining to this product would be greatly appreciated (like can I get this for less than $40 elsewhere? :) Thanks in advance... Austin lin@ee.umr.edu
