If voice quality is paramount, the ZyXEL 2864 is the best modem I've
come accross by a huge margin but this is a high-end gear costing an
arm and a leg and as it is one of the very few modem supporting the
official IS101 voice standard, it is not very well supported by
software manufacturers who prefer to support the more popular (and
lucrative) Rockwell,Cirrus and USR low-end voice modes.

There are a few softwares supporting the ZyXEL range like TRIO
COMMUNICATION SUITE (which has the worst user interface ever made !)
and Supervoice. There is hope however as the latests firmwares/drivers
flashers support unimodem/v.

Take a look at www.zyxel.com.

Greetings.
