But what about the "pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness" in the
Declaration of Independence.  Liberty means the right to choose what
you eat, and you can't be happy if the government forces you to eat
tofu and bean sprouts instead of the bacon cheeseburgers you love.

The problem with this idea (of taxing unhealthy food) is that it is
a totalitarian idea, thoroughly British in the way it reduces people
to livestock and forces them to behave in a way the nanny state
believes is best for them.  I imagine that after we're forced to eat
nothing but bean sprouts and tofu, that the government will begin
requiring us to jog at least 5mi a day because it is good for us.
Combine the above ideas with socialist national health care, and you
can the nightmare that awaits us if we give in and allow the government
to dictate what we eat.
