I know about the 'pot and kettle' saying but what I'm saying is that
the Turks have good cause to complain about the Europeans and Germans
in particular in the treatment of Turks. The U.S. certainly has its
own problems but the Europeans need not point fingers across the ocean.

The human rights record of Turkey is far from stellar but they have made
great strides since the fall of the Ottoman Empire and Turkey's record
is far better than many Moslem countries.

Another cause for Europe's continuing blockage of Turkish entry into the
EC is the cheap Turkish labour and fear/racism towards a Moslem culture.

I do not believe in German military participation in the Gulf without
a change in the German constitution preceded by public discussion.
Hopeful by this time, the Gulf war will be ended.
