Damn, better sell Florida back to Spain. As a friend of mine from New Mexico says: "We didn't come to the US, the US came to us." If you've lived somewhere for centuries, and another group comes along and imposes a government, should you really be expected to change your culture to match theirs? No, you shouldn't. Then why should the Hispanics in the US be expected to change? Therefore, the US will always and should always be a multicultural state. Bear in mind, it's very likely that Puerto Rico will try to gain statehood by the end of the century. They're officially Spanish-speaking, and that's not going to change. The English Only partisans should really have fun with this. -- Stephen Graham graham@cs.washington.edu uw-beaver!june!graham
