U.S. could default on national debt, Treasury Department warns WASHINGTON (AP) - The Treasury Department says the United States could face the prospect of not being able to pay its bills in late May unless Congress raises the government's borrowing authority, now capped at $6.4 trillion. Wonderful news! Will the rats flee the sinking ship?

Will the rats flee the sinking ship? This is only the offical debt ($6.4 trillion), I have seen some articals on the net which have been removed, putting the true debt at 15+ trillion US$ and that it`s all been hidden Enron style! Recent US millitary expansion is the sort of thing that previous empires have done before a sudden decline in power. The fact that US global policy has broken into a sweat is a sure sign that the door is about to come of it`s hinges. www.bilderberg.org www.copvcia.com

Is it? Do you think the "last superpower" would simply close up shop and have a going out of business sale, leaving the world safe for those who are currently afraid of it? Or do you think it more likely that the rulers of this last superpower would do *anything* they thought necessary to keep the boat afloat? Actually, depending on how you count the "bean jar" it could be even worse than that. The governmnet has set up several "private" institutions which they (we) are ultimately liable for in one form or another. And consider what would happen if a housing bubble surfaced. See: http://www.pacificresearch.org/pub/act/2001/act_01-07-23.html This is slightly out of date since Fannie Mae has gone "public". Is there a difference nowadays.

Or how about these: http://www.freddiemac.com/home/ http://www.ginniemae.gov/ There are others. Now they may very well have been established with the best of intentions, but you sure do piss off a lot of folks who don't have the same guaranteed results in the "free" market place as these "companies" do.
