The problem with Fry's is not only that they are not the cheapest or best place to get things for the Mac, mail order which becomes almost a neccesity for good prices and variety in the Mac market, it is also misleading because of the differences between the platforms. Mac peripherals that are going to be plugged into the back of the machine are going to be more expensive than PC cards or drives that are going to be inserted into the machine. Some people would rather have them installed some would rather have them as accessories outside, the prices are the same for zip or jaz drives if they are external. I personally like having a SCSI port and an ethernet port standard. The difference between printers and monitors is definitely real, but the quality is also, including the fact that a laser printer should be a postscript printer for the Mac and an added feature for the PC. There are definitely some very inexpensive, or cheap, peripherals that can be found for the PC and not the Mac, many if not most of these are very low quality knock-offs. You get what you pay for. -- I want to be able to say of us that we saw that the United States could not be turned into a gigantic Switzerland or Holland, that it could not be a hermit nation hiding a defenceless, feeble body within a huge shell; that it could not be shut up and kept from its share of the world's commerce until it was smothered by a power hostile to it in every conception of justice and liberty when it might have prevented such a fate.
