Yes there is more PC software, but most of it is awful. The Mac is great for file saving, the Internet and the best program for young children - Kid Pix. The ease of use, and don't listen to people that tell you Windows '95 is easier, I am biplatformal and I know it's not, is worth the price. We have KidPix on the Mac and KidPix Studio on the PC -- at this point I don't think there are more than a small handful of kids' programs available for the Mac that are not also available on the PC. The reverse is emphatically not true. It used to be the case that innovative software came out first on the Mac and later (if ever) on the PC; that's not true anymore either. As has been pointed out several times, the ease-of-use question is a religious issue. I am considerably more than biplatformal, having used most major OS's and many minor ones since the early 1960's; personally I can't stand *either* the Mac *or* Windows, mainly because of the click-to-type misfeature, the dumbed-down scrollbars, the vast amounts of screen space wasted by window frames, and general lack of configurability. I'll stick to Linux. This doesn't keep my kids from being equally proficient with Windows and MacOS, and from using Linux when they want to surf the Internet or send e-mail. -- / Steve Savitzky \ Cyberspace: an alternate universe where magic works /__ / h:steve@starport.com \ http://www.starport.com/people/steve/ /___ \ w:steve@crc.ricoh.com/ http://www.crc.ricoh.com/people/steve/ \___ \____ Kids' page: ___/__ http://www.crc.ricoh.com/people/steve/kids.html __\__
