Coffee at 185F is undrinkable, as McDonald's own consultants warned
them.

You stupid pig.  The woman was sitting in the passenger seat of a
stationary car driven by her nephew and was attempting to pry the lid
open just enough to add the cream and sugar.  She was indeed holding
the cup between her legs, and in the attempt to open the lid, the cup
completely collapsed, spilling the coffee all over her.

Why was McDonald's selling 185F coffee to motorists at the takeout
window in flimsy paper cups?

False, you stupid pig.  The coffee was undrinkable at that
temperature, and the cup was defective.  This has nothing to do with
socialism or a nanny state.  You can own a company in the for-profit
private economy and try to make all the money you can, but you can't
put people's health and safety at unreasonable risk.
