hummm ..... in one sense, it kinda sounds like overkill. I'm refering
to all of the auto switching. In another sense, Generac tends to be
good as a boat anchor. The warranty tends to really suck. Especially
if they use a Briggs & Stratton engine. The B&S warranty covers only
defects in materials and workmanship. Funny thing is that when you take
it in to have it repaired on warranty, all of the problems are due to
"normal wear and tear". Read that as meaning "not covered".

Running on propane might be a really good idea, considering that the use
is only occasional. This would prevent the varnish buildup that would
tend to occur with gasoline engines.

Why?

Awfully low. All of the low end Hondas have 8 Amp as standard.

This is pretty standard on most generators, today.

Hummm....interesting. So if the governor doesn't work, for some reason,
it may run too fast. If this happens, it shuts off?

This sounds like a good idea.

Again, pretty standard. I don't remember seeing *any* generator without
a circuit breaker or fuse on the output.

Now, I don't remember, but I *think* that Honda has propane conversions
available on some models.

Additionally, when you get up into the 8kW area, they tend to be water
cooled (quieter, longer life).

If you haven't checked out Honda, I would suggest that you do. Remember,
though: Do *not* pay list. Hint: My 2400 listed for $1300. It was on
"sale" for about $950. I ended up paying $800 -- including the 4 year
extended warranty (don't bother -- you don't need it).

Glen,

Thanks for the advice. Generac also makes a liquid colled 8K model and
I'll check into that.
