Hilary Lane (hilary@netwise.com) wrote: : I happen to know the guy who started CROW, and can tell you it's no : scam. I've read the newsletters and have seen some book reviews he : references. Before you start flaming, check out the facts. : In addition, if the reviewers that only charge a spaghetti dinner to : put aspiring authors not only in touch with genuine publishers but provide : substantive reviews of the work, then they're really getting underpaid for : their efforts. Would you care to let us know where to get in touch with : these critique groups and what kind of results the authors get? Surely. If you are familiar with CROW then you undoubtedly realize how important it is to distinguish themselves from all the *other* sincere-sounding, even well-meaning, crooks. As far as "checking out the facts," I think that the burden of proof is upon *you* to justify your assertion that CROW is worthwhile, not me. If you had ever shared your work with other writers whose intent in mutual critique is to *publish* then you would already have the answer to your question. Moreover, working with other writers seeking to *publish* in ever-greater markets is a wonderful association; it hones your own thinking to be around other hungry artists in search of *sales* not just accrete the usual literary baggage of the 'critical academy'. CROW may be workwhile, or like its eponymous cousin, just be out for the road kill. -- grady@netcom.com 2EF221 / 15 E2 AD D3 D1 C6 F3 FC 58 AC F7 3D 4F 01 1E 2F
