Maybe because they produce a product that an end user is willing to pay
for? Unlike you NEA whiners, who want the government to pay for what
you can't find a customer to buy.

Value in the free market is created by demand. Your work has no intrinsic
monetary value if no one is willing to buy it. Which is not to say that it
has no value. But you are demanding that you get paid as much as geeks
who produce in-demand items.
