I think what's worse is, people forget that "non-Christian" is NOT
synonymous with "evil"!

Are the Harry Potter books non-Christian? From having read the first
one, well, yes! They don't mention Jesus or Christianity or even God.
They are perfectly secular.

Are the Harry Potter books anti-Christian? Not hardly! They espouse all
the generic values Christianity espouses - love and fidelity and
goodness and stuff. They simply don't go into the specific Christian
values such as accepting Jesus as your Saviour. They certainly aren't
pro-Satan. They definitely are anti-evil.

Since lots of good people are non-Christian, I fail to see why the
description, when applied to a book, should be such an epithet.

(Then again, being a woman, I fail to see why 'effeminate' should be
used as an insult either.)

And you know what's funny? Of America and England, it's England which
has a national Christian religion, America which has the (ideally)
wholly secular government. So why is all the furor over Harry Potter's
lack of Christianity-endorsement coming out of the good ol' U.S. of A.
where the First Amendment supposedly reigns supreme?

Maybe I just haven't heard about similar protests in the U.K. yet?
