The columns in the WTC are actually smaller in diameter than those in the Murrah building. > I had also thought that the bomb used at the WTC was about 1,500 pounds > in a small van (about the size of a minivan) while the OKC bomb was on > the order of 7,000 pounds according to interviews Tim McVeigh has given > the media. The WTC bomb was augmented by three large metal cylinders of compressed hydrogen gas. Consider also that it detonated inside its target, while the Murrah's detonated outside it. The explosive characteristics of an ANFO detonation are well known. Compare the amount of force subjected to the furthest OKC pillar with that subjected to the WTC pillar less than ten feet away. At OKC, pillars were supposedly snapped by an ANFO detonation insufficiently powerful to remove the sheet-rock cladding on the columns. This, compounded with other improbable anomalies and witness statements, render the "single bomb theory" extremely suspect. > Perhaps, just perhaps, a smaller bomb against a stronger building would > not do as much damange as a larger bomb against a smaller building. > > As to your "didn't even scuff" comment: > > http://www.interpol.int/Public/Publications/ICPR/ICPR469_3.asp > > "During the initial assessment of explosive damage to the complex, it > became very clear that the structural integrity of Trade Tower Number > One was at risk, and that the Vista Hotel would probably collapse within > days if structural steel support was not in place as soon as possible." Consideral damage was done to the WTC, but the *columns* were unharmed. It was non-load-bearing floors, ceilings, piping, and various objects within "clear space" (automobiles and office furnishings) that were destroyed as the blast spread throughout the weaker areas of the structure. -- http://groups.yahoo.com/group/American_Liberty/files/al.htm "American_Liberty": Where the fact gets sorted from the fiction.
