Entropic Processing, Inc. has been developing a signal processing
package -- Entropic Signal Processing System (ESPS) -- and we'll be
releasing it soon. We are now looking for beta test sites. Beta
sites will receive a full source distribution without any obligation
to buy, but we do expect the sites to have a serious interest in the
product. Pricing has not been determined yet, but probably will be in
the $12K-$15K range for full source and around $5K for a full binary.
Universities will get a substantial discount (probably 50%). Beta
sites that elect to purchase will get a substantial discount from the
applicable base price (probably 30%).

If you're interested, let us know. Also, we'll have a booth at ICASSP87;
if you're going and want to chat, please stop by.

A little info about Entropic: it was started about 3 years ago by
John Burg to pursue commercial applications of advanced signal pro-
cessing methods. In addition to ESPS, we have developed a 4800bps
speech coder.

Here is a technical description of ESPS:

             Entropic Signal Processing System (ESPS)

ESPS supports signal processing both with a set of applications pro-
grams and with a programming environment. ESPS is well suited for
work in speech processing, image processing, seismic analysis, commun-
ications, medical signal processing, etc. A set of approximately 50
user-level programs (called from the UNIX shell) support analog I/O,
spectrum analysis, filtering, scalar quantization, vector quantiza-
tion, pattern classification, signal editing, file editing, plotting,
etc. ESPS also includes a library of over 130 functions that support
the modification of existing programs and the development of new pro-
grams. The ESPS library contains functions that perform signal pro-
cessing primitives as well as functions that support the creation and
manipulation of ESPS files. ESPS provides 5 basic file types plus the
ability to modify these file types and to create new file types. ESPS
file headers maintain a complete history of the processing that has
been performed on the data contained in the file.

Key Features:

o applications programs plus a software toolkit
o direct support for traditional operations
o supports rapid development of new operations

o UNIX tools approach, including pipes

o ESPS file headers maintain a complete data processing history

o ESPS header fields and record fields are referenced by name

o easy manipulation of header and data record contents

  o ESPS file editor

o interactive select(1) program treats ESPS files as a database

o user-extensions to ESPS files (doesn't require source license)
o easy to modify existing file types
o easy to create new file types
o extensions supported by ESPS plotting, printing,
         editing, and data base programs

  o disciplined software engineering
      o information hiding approach
      o full LINT library provided
o ESPS library performs extensive error checking

  o complete, on-line manual

o conversion programs for ILS sampled-data files

o conversion programs for MASSCOMP LWB files

o conversion programs for ASCII data

  o direct analog I/O available

o subroutines can be written in C or FORTRAN

o data plots, scatter plots, histograms

o plot programs produce MASSCOMP GPS or Tektronix output

o mouse support for signal editing

  o can run under wi

  o X-Windows interface under development

  o laserprinter support

Prerequisites:

if on-screen plots are desired, any MASSCOMP graphics terminal
or any Tektronix 40XX or 41XX terminal; if analog I/O is desired,
    MASSCOMP data acquisition hardware
